Civicactions and the Interaction form aligned to create an iPhone app for Interactions 2011 conference. It's always a great pleasure to work with Civicactions as everyone there has super internet savvy and have their strategies properly aligned. This iPhone/Android app is for a conference which connects organizations interested in social change. Naturally I was stoked to do my best. The time/resources constraints limited us but even working within those I think we produced a very useful app, useful being the highest priority for anything you install on your phone. We provided several icon options, but as often is the case with design-by-committee, Interaction elected for an icon that was a straight rep of their brand. That is, an icon that was literally their logo. Had we more time I think we could have helped them realize that brand strategy is more complicated than just developing a logo and pasting it everywhere. A brand is nurtured in a host of touchpoints. Each of these is a connection with the consumer of the brand, and every aspect of this consumption contributes to the brand identity. To properly cultivate a brand each touchpoint must be an experience that is consistent with the brand values and consumer expectation. Still, I really am proud of the app that we created for Interaction and think we contributed to the betterment.
